What is the Nexa Smart Plug?

The Nexa Smart Plug allows Lifeline Digital to remotely control power to designated devices within a service user’s home. This innovative technology enhances communication between residents and Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) Operators while providing additional support through automated lighting control.

How Does it Work?

The Nexa Smart Plug is triggered by an alarm button press on the Lifeline system, a pendant, or a compatible telecare sensor like the Universal Sensor combined with a Chair or Bed Occupancy Sensor. It seamlessly integrates with Tunstall’s Device Management Platform (DMP), allowing for quick configuration to activate or deactivate power to connected appliances when an alarm is raised.

Who Benefits from the Nexa Smart Plug?

The Nexa Smart Plug offers distinct advantages to various stakeholders involved in the Lifeline Digital service. For service providers, the implementation of the device leads to a reduction in the volume of no voice contact calls, allowing responders to allocate their resources more effectively towards addressing genuine emergency situations.

This enhancement in operational efficiency translates to a more streamlined process for ARC operators, facilitating more efficient alarm handling through clearer communication channels.

For service users, the benefits are equally significant, providing ease of communication and a greater sense of being understood as well as playing a role in reducing the risk of falls among elderly individuals, thereby enhancing overall safety and wellbeing.

Television/Radio Turn off

The Nexa Smart Plug offers practical applications like automatically removing power from electrical sockets to support service users during critical moments, such as temporarily turning off a television during an alarm call. This feature is triggered by a simple button press on the Lifeline Hub or Pendant, ensuring seamless control and enhancing user safety and comfort.

Automatic Lighting

Another key use case of the Nexa Smart Plug is the automatic restoration of power to an electrical socket to support service users, such as turning on a bedside lamp upon getting out of bed. This functionality is triggered by the Universal Sensor combined with a Bed or Chair Occupancy Sensor, providing intuitive and automatic lighting control to enhance user mobility and safety within the home.

Benefits and Peace of Mind

Implementing the Nexa Smart Plug offers peace of mind and assurance to service users and their families. It boosts service user confidence, reduces stress for ARC Operators, and ensures unimpeded communication, facilitating effective call assessment and escalation.

Cost Savings and Efficiency

The Nexa Smart Plug supports service providers in achieving significant savings by reducing the need for responder services, through a reduction in 'no voice' calls. This smart solution not only enhances operational efficiency but also optimises resource allocation, ensuring that responders can focus on critical situations, ultimately leading to cost-effective and streamlined care delivery.
