Tunstall Healthcare supports local school with tech donation

Doncaster-based Tunstall Healthcare is supporting local school, Whitley and Eggborough Community Primary School, through the pandemic with a gift of 12 Google Chromebooks.

The Chromebooks will play a crucial role in supporting the school in its mission to provide an effective education to pupils and their families who don’t have the means to support learning from home through technology.

The school originally migrated to the cloud in January 2020 using Google Education, which made the initial transition to home learning in the first lockdown as smooth as possible. During lockdown the school has continued to provide remote learning for its pupils, leading to an increase in the demand for technology to ensure all children can access their education from home.

Sarah Langridge, Headteacher at Whitley and Eggborough Community Primary School, is delighted with the donation. She commented: “Technology has been critical for us to enable our teachers to continue providing a quality education to our pupils through the pandemic. We’ve been working hard to provide a mixture of live lessons and videos through Google Meet, Google Classroom and 1:1 meetings. Parents have also been offered a timetable to guide their teaching routine.

“The Chromebooks will make a huge difference to enable the vast majority of children across all year groups to access the curriculum, ensuring they can engage with online learning. We know that many parents are trying to juggle working from home and educating their children, and we hope that these additional devices will relieve some of these pressures. We’re so grateful to the team at Tunstall Healthcare for their generous donation, and providing some much needed kindness in what has been a challenging few months.”

Gavin Bashar, UK Managing Director of Tunstall Healthcare, added: “Improving the lives of people is at the heart of what we do, and I hope that our contribution to Whitley and Eggborough School will give its pupils the opportunity to engage with teachers and peers successfully.

“We’re looking forward to receiving updates from Sarah regarding how the Chromebooks have been received and the projects that the children use them to complete.”
