Tunstall Healthcare bags HR Excellence Award

Tunstall is celebrating after winning ‘Team of the Year’ at the Yorkshire HR Excellence Awards.

The award recognised the People Team across organisational development, leadership, learning and colleague experience.

Over the past year, Tunstall Healthcare’s six-person People Team has helped the organisation navigate one of the most significant periods of change in its recent history, partnering with leaders across 15 areas of the business to ensure its people strategy supported business transformation at every stage.

The team’s work to strengthen leadership capability, workforce planning, reward, learning and colleague experience earned it ‘Team of the Year’, recognising the commitment to supporting and developing employees at every stage of their career.

The launch of its bespoke internal management development programme saw 53 percent of leaders participating within its first four months. A review of reward and benefits delivered around £80,000 in savings, while a business-first ‘benefits event’ was introduced to showcase the support available to colleagues.

Katie Nicolaou, People Director at Tunstall Healthcare, said: “We are incredibly proud to see the work of our People Team recognised at the Yorkshire Excellence in HR Awards.

“The past year has brought significant change for our organisation, but throughout that we’ve remained focused on supporting our colleagues, strengthening our leaders and continuing to invest in people. This award recognises the commitment of our People Team, but also the collaboration and dedication we see from colleagues and leaders right across Tunstall.”

The award was announced at the annual award ceremony, hosted at The Royal Armouries in Leeds yesterday (1st October), bringing together HR professionals from across Yorkshire.

The recognition follows a year in which the People Team, led by Katie Nicolaou alongside Yael Bannister, Emma O’Leary, Sam Morris, Fern Speight and Lawrence Khajehnoori, has continued to invest in colleagues while supporting significant organisational change.

Mark Hindle, Managing Director at Tunstall Healthcare added: “This fantastic accolade is a real testament to the people behind our brilliant organisation and the culture we’re continuing to build.

“As Tunstall continues to evolve and support people to live independently across the country, creating a workplace where our colleagues can develop, contribute and succeed remains a key priority. Our goal is to create an environment that empowers everyone and gives them opportunities to grow; while ensuring we have the skills and capability needed to deliver our future business direction.”
