UK based, leading global provider of software solutions, services and technology for the telecare and telehealth markets, Tunstall Healthcare, has expanded its German presence and service offering with the acquisition of BeWo Unternehmensgruppe (BeWo) for an undisclosed fee.

The results of a new telehealth pilot in Ireland have been launched. Based in County Wexford, the project was undertaken by a multi-agency Stakeholder Group (Wexford County Council-Age Friendly Programme including the Wexford Older People’s Council, Age Friendly Ireland, HSE, Wexford General Hospital). It provided a 12 week telehealth intervention to 50 patients with chronic illnesses including Chronic Heart Disease, COPD & Diabetes and was independently evaluated and monitored by Waterford Institute of Technology.

In celebration of the Stockport Frog Trail, telemonitoring and response service Carecall has launched a competition to raise awareness amongst children about the importance of assistive technology in supporting the independence and safety of older and vulnerable people. Supported by Tunstall, the competition will see under 16s in the Stockport area submit their ideas for new technology that could help vulnerable people stay independent and at home for longer.

Assistive technology (AT) should be a key aspect in the Government’s planned reforms for the social care sector to become mainstream in the delivery of adult social care services, according to a new report released by the County Councils Network (CCN).
