Purpose

Helping people to live safely at home

The property exit sensor is designed to monitor the safety of people with cognitive impairments who may be prone to leaving their homes for extended periods of time, during the day or night, putting themselves at risk. Suitable for care homes, sheltered accommodation or individual dwellings. The system has many benefits but primarily enables people with dementia to live safely and independently in the community. If the exit sensor is triggered, appropriate action can be taken quickly to ensure the user is returned to a safe environment. This alleviates some of the emotional and physical stress of caring for someone who may leave their home and be unable to return unassisted. The property exit sensor can be used with Lifeline Vi, Vi+ and Telecare Overlay in order to provide flexible solutions for independent care homes, sheltered accommodation or individual dwellings.

How

How does it work?

The property exit sensor is located above the door and comprises a PIR (Passive Infra Red) movement detector, door contacts and a Telecare Interface Module, which detect if someone has walked out of the door and not returned. The alarm can be activated for certain periods of the day, and will raise an alarm to either the carer or the monitoring centre. An alarm will also be raised if a monitored door has been left open for a specified duration to ensure building security and client safety. The property exit sensor can be used in conjunction with outside lighting controls to reduce the risk of falls. Raises the alarm if the monitored door has been left open.
