Pharma/Biotech

Tunstall offers Pharmaceutical and Biotech companies a unique global capability to engage with patients in a wide range of “Beyond-the-Pill” Adherence, Support and Educational Programmes or, using Tunstall’s technology platforms, the facility to collect vital sign and PRO (Patient Reported Outcomes) data from patients at home in either study or treatment settings.

Tunstall can create the programme design and core content and then, through local Tunstall operating companies and partners, roll the programme out internationally (though we can of course design and run single-country programmes too).  Our “One design, multi-country implementation” approach ensures tight quality and regulatory control, sensitive localisation and adaptation, rapid deployment, consolidated reporting and significantly reduced overall costs.

Patient Support Programmes (PSPs)

Pharmaceutical and Biotech companies are increasingly turning to innovative “Beyond-the-Pill” strategies to improve adherence, support enhanced market access, and increase overall patient & HCP acceptability.  Tunstall offers an end-to-end service to design the right programme for your product and the patients taking it, write the content (e.g. script guidelines) and then drive the implementation of the programme through our network of Tunstall operations around the world.

At the heart of most PSPs is some form of phone-based support and this is where Tunstall Care Counsellors (TCCs) come in; your TCCs will be based in each country – we don’t off-shore this type of sensitive contact – speaking the local language(s) (for example in Spain we operate in Spanish, Catalonian and Basque).  The high-touch service offered by TCCs is frequently supplemented by text or email messages, each message targeted and personalised to be relevant to each individual patient.

Remote Patient Monitoring

In some indications e.g. COPD or with some drugs, monitoring of a patient’s vital signs can be required.  It may be that dose titration to response is required, or perhaps the objective is early detection of a possible worsening of the patient’s condition enabling prompt intervention.  Tunstall has the integrated technology platform comprising remote patient monitoring hardware, the software systems and IT infrastructure to transmit, process and store the data securely and compliantly, backed up by local call centres for service and support when needed.

Remote Patient Data Collection

Remote Patient Data collection offers researchers the opportunity to collect data much more frequently (and in a real-world setting) compared with the alternative of bringing trial subjects back to a clinic or trial centre to submit readings.  Costs are reduced while the reduced demands made upon the study subjects means that recruitment is easier and retention is higher.

Tunstall has the integrated technology platform comprising remote patient monitoring hardware, the software systems and IT infrastructure to transmit, process and store the data securely and compliantly, backed up by local call centres for service and support when needed.

Post Authorisation Safety Studies (PASS) and Post Authorisation Efficacy Studies (PAES)

As more NCEs are developed for niche patient groups, double blind, randomised clinical trials large enough to demonstrate safety and/or efficacy to “normal” standards are simply impossible to conduct – there aren’t the patients.  Increasingly therefore, NCEs are and will be granted Marketing Authorisation subject a Risk Management Plan (RMP) and conduct of a PASS or PAES.  Tunstall’s Remote Patient Data platform can be used globally to monitor patients cost effectively in their homes, without having to call them back to clinic.  The platform also supports the administration of disease or drug specific Patient Reported Outcome questionnaires that allow Pharmacovigilance teams to monitor parameters that cannot be measured by remote devices e.g. pain scores.
