What is the Leicestershire Telecare Service?
The Leicestershire Telecare Service is a simple, reliable service that enables people to live life to the full, with the comfort of help being available at the touch of a button 24 hours a day if it’s needed. The service is provided by Tunstall Response, an established, industry accredited UK monitoring centre whose highly skilled operators answer almost 2 million calls each year.
What are the benefits of the service?
• Instant response - our highly skilled operators respond to your call and take the appropriate action to get the help you need when you need it.
• Personal service - friendly and dignified service.
• We won’t leave you - our operators will stay on the line with you until help arrives.
• Complete reassurance for you and your family - 24 hour link to the monitoring centre.
• Easy installation - wireless system so no unsightly wiring.
How does it work?
The telecare service will provide you with a Lifeline home unit and pendant. The Lifeline home unit simply connects to the telephone line, and works with the pendant, which can be worn on the wrist or around the neck. Pressing the button on the home unit or on the pendant will alert our monitoring centre where trained, friendly staff will have all the relevant details to hand and can send the most appropriate help straight away. This might be one of your nominated keyholders, the emergency services or a local response service if you have chosen to receive this.
There’s no need to worry about remembering phone numbers, someone not being at home to receive the call or disturbing anybody during the night. The pendant can be used from anywhere in the home, and if the operator does not get a response when they talk via the clear loudspeaker on the home unit they will still send help.
What else is available?
A range of telecare sensors are available which work with your telecare system, such as flood detectors and smoke detectors. Leicestershire County Council will assess your needs and recommend which sensors will be of benefit to you.
You can find out more about the sensors available here: Product handbook
