Last week, Tunstall Healthcare held its European Symposium, bringing together health, housing and social care visionaries, experts and patient advocates from across Europe to share ideas that will move towards the integration of care delivery with technology at the heart.
With representatives from across the UK, Nordics, Benelux, Germany, France and Spain, the four-day event debated the pressures to reduce demand on health and care services, improve outcomes for citizens and generate cost efficiencies, in addition to showcasing the most innovative models and ways of working from each region.
Key subjects covered were:
Tunstall’s Chief Executive Paul Stobart chaired the first day which comprised of prestigious speakers from the central government in Madrid, and the local government municipalities across other regions of Spain.
This event has been a fantastic opportunity to hear from all parts of Europe. For example, I was particularly taken by an initiative in Spain. Here, following some innovation by our Spanish team, the local government have been running a teleassistance programme where Tunstall has been providing support and counsel for family carers who are supporting their loved ones at home. Most impressive of all, the number of individuals among the trial group who have moved on to residential care is half the norm.
Feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, and the opportunity to hear and learn from others is the key message to take away.
Andrew Gwatkin, British Consul General in Barcelona commented:
I would like to thank Tunstall Healthcare Group for organising this European Symposium and am proud to have played a part in the exchange of good practices in social and health care.
Abel Delgado, Chief Executive Officer, Tunstall, Southern Europe added:
The event has created tangible outcomes for the various participants to take back to their own organisations, whilst also making strong cross-border connections and I’m very proud to have provided the host country for this important event.
