SEQOL Evidences Efficient Telehealth Solutions at HSJ Awards

Tunstall Healthcare is proud to support the work of SEQOL and congratulates the team on its success in the Health Services Journal (HSJ) Efficiency Awards, which recognise the healthcare leaders that are improving the patient experience and evidencing efficiencies. Tunstall has worked with SEQOL since the organisation was established in 2011, providing a range of telehealth technologies. 

SEQOL Telehealth won the HSJ Efficient Telehealth Solutions award for its innovative scheme of supporting life planning for people with learning disabilities and people with long-term conditions to self-care at home, reducing non-elective admissions.

Working together with GPs and local care teams, the Swindon-based social enterprise demonstrated how its telehealth scheme improved quality of life through positive person-centred planning and proactive prevention. SEQOL Telehealth reduced the need for community nursing, GP visits and inappropriate hospital admissions and judges remarked on the scheme’s high early cost savings. SEQOL’s telehealth service is supported by a 24/7 telephone support line and a monitoring service. This ensures a rapid and appropriate response should a patient’s vital signs fall outside of their set parameters. 

Kim Hogan, one of the SEQOL community matrons leading on the telehealth initiative, said:

We were delighted to win this award, which highlights how a collaborative approach between partners such as SEQOL, Tunstall and other health professionals can vastly enhance patients' quality of life while simultaneously producing considerable efficiencies. It's very encouraging to note that by working together intelligently we can improve quality and reduce costs, and we look forward to continuing working with Tunstall and other partners to improve outcomes even further.

Among the finalists for the Efficient Telehealth Solutions award was TF3 Consortium (Tunstall, Fold Telecare and S3 Group) and the Northern Ireland Centre for Connected Health and Social Care, who were shortlisted for using remote telemonitoring in Northern Ireland for those with long-term care needs to provide economy health benefits.
